During these last few month with COVID-19 you may have experienced increase in gastrointestinal issues, migraines, anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia, frustration, agitation...and the list goes on. And you may have worried that you "have COVID," when in reality it was all emotionally rooted due to alot of unknowns in the world, the fear portrayed by the media, and a shift in how we live our day-to-day lives.
Furthermore, the fear, anxiety, depression, and stress not only has been stored within our brains, but also our physical bodies. I can talk about each organ and the role they each play with our emotional states, but I we are going to focus on one: the liver. The liver is my best friend, and an organ I could talk about for hours (so you will probably see more blog posts about it). It has so many functions that in order for it to be working at its best, it needs to be calm, focused, and healthy. For many of us, we overlook the liver and may pay attention to other parts of our bodies. That's why I want to shed some light onto this guy - the protector of our body.
According to the Medical Medium (Liver Rescue, 2018), if the liver is unhappy, the rest of our body (and mind) is impacted. The liver absorbs the adrenaline that is produced in our body to protect us, while in turn holding onto emotions experienced. When we store emotional experiences in our bodies, they return every so often to bother us. Do you suddenly feel anxious out of nowhere? Are you quick to get angered? Do you have this constant feeling of threat or something bad will happen? Listen more closely to your body and what it is trying to tell you. We obviously cannot live without our liver, so it is important to listen closely and release what no longer serves you and your body. This can be done through modification in nutrition, exercise, medications, and household, beauty, and other commonly used products.
