Technology Reminder from Mackenzie

Updated: Dec 13, 2022

Hi everyone, Mackenzie here! I wanted to share this article with you all because as most of us know, we are consumed by technology. Whether it be for work, sending emails, using GPS, online shopping, or by going down a social media rabbit hole, we are all consumed by technology. Of course, we all have moments where we go to technology as a way to take our minds off of something stressful, or as a way to procrastinate (I am guilty of it too!), but I think it is important for us to be mindful of how are using as phones, and how we can use our phones as a tool rather than as a way to procrastinate.

Here are some tips to help us not compare ourselves to others on social media

-Ask yourself: "what story is more important, an instagram story, or my real life story that is happening in front of me?"

-Recognize that no one posts unflattering photos of themselves, and people post photos when they are doing something cool and or exciting.

-If we were all meant to be the same, we would be. There is a reason we are all different from one another.

-Comparison is the thief of joy. Why punish yourself and take away your joy? Life is hard enough, let's not make it harder.

-Ask yourself: "How is comparing myself to this person helping me? How is it inspiring me? How is it helping me be the best version of myself?"

-Do you want to focus your energy on yourself and focus on your goals? Or would you rather focus on someone else achieving their goals, and waste your precious time?

-Remind yourself that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, the grass is typically greener where we water it.

Don't get me wrong, sometimes checking our Instagram can be a nice way to keep up with what our friends are doing and "like" a cute photo, but it can also be a way for us compare ourselves to others and can cause us to wonder "why are they always doing something cool and i never do anything fun" or "wow they must have the best life, or the best job". At the end of the day, social media only shows us the best of the best, and I think it is important to remember that in between each post someone makes there are things happening in their lives that are not being posted. With all of that being said, check out this article and let us know what you think!

Best

Mackenzie :)
