A Mindful Approach to Spring Wellness

Our wellness this spring is more than just decluttering and cleaning the space around us. It's about looking inward, and incorporating different practices to help boost that nervous system, promote a healthier sense of self, and allow you to begin with a clean slate. Spring is a season of renewal, regrowth, and transformation. Although throughout the year we have opportunities for change, the resemblance of this season helps guide us into feelings of more clarity, lightness, and openness. The sun is out longer. The weather is warmer. We hear the birds in the distance (or they are chirping and waking us up). Overall, we begin to shed the heaviness of the winter and embrace all the feel-good vibes Mother Nature brings has to offer.

As we welcome the changes of the season, there are changes emotionally, physically, and spiritually that we may go through. By cultivating these areas of our wellness, we can ensure that we will continue to experience and welcome transformation, focus more inward, and recognize that in moments of darkness light will shine through. With every season, there is change experienced. It is what do we do with those changes to live a healthy and intentional life.

Here are some areas/tips in which you can focus on during the spring season to help you get the most of this time of year:

Decluttering

Our environment plays a HUGE roll in the way we feel. Taking time to clean your space makes a big difference, and sometimes we don't realize how much we needed it! Shockingly, there are more pollutants in the home vs outside that can contribute to symptoms. It is important to detoxify your space to cleanse both mind + body.

  • Open up those windows and let the fresh air cleanse your space!

  • Tidy up your surroundings

  • Get rid of things that are taking up space

  • Reduce electronic use - maybe it's social media or something specific that you find is draining you on a daily basis.

  • Swap toxic products for safer options

  • Go through your closets and donate clothing

  • Rearrange the furniture + decor in your space

  • Need a reset? Listen to a guided meditation or podcast.

  • Add some plants into your space for an extra boost of purification

  • Journal and practice gratitude

Nourishment

Eat foods that are in-season can help you find balance during this time. If you continue to consume winter-rich foods, they will way you down - physically + mentally.

Nourishing the mind and body with herbs can be very helpful. Here are some of our favorites:

  • Raw Local Honey

  • Peppermint

  • Lemons

  • Holy Basil

  • Lemon Balm

Connect with Nature

Spend time outside! Whether it's going for a walk or sitting on your porch, taking in sunlight and the other elements of nature can be so helpful for your whole health. Even simply stepping outside barefoot, planting your feet in the ground can be helpful in moments of stress and/or anxiety. Some areas of our health that are directly impacted and boosted by connecting with nature are:

  • Hormone health

  • Immune system

  • Skin

  • Mood

  • Fertility

  • Bone health

  • Circadian rhythm

Movement

Walk, jog, do some yoga! Movement is key year around, but in the spring we have a sense of longing to get outside and move. Maybe you head over to some trails with your pup or drive to the beach. Wherever you find yourself, get moving. Our mind and body rejuvenate as we engage in movement - whatever it may be.

Get Adequate Sleep

As we know, sleep is so essential for our health and well-being and is especially important as the seasons change.

  • Maintain + establish a bedtime ritual

  • Cut back on caffeine, alcohol, oversleeping, and napping

  • Limit technology use an hour or two before bed

  • Monitor bedroom temperature, keeping it more cool vs. warm

  • Add in movement throughout your day
